Annual April Ladies Retreat
What a joy to report on the Ladies retreat this past weekend!
Nearly 50 ladies representing 6 or 7 different denominations gathered this weekend to hear teaching on the topic of “God’s Handiwork-creating beauty from the inside out”. The weekend was meaningful to the attendees for a variety of reasons. The responses we heard as participants left yesterday included appreciation for the following:
- It provided a place to get away from everyday tasks, to be refreshed and re-invigorated
- The teaching of Linda Zane and Nancy Littel inspired new hope, new confidence, and new belief in themselves. Women were challenged and inspired to rely on, and trust in God for the deepest issues in their lives. Linda captured their hearts as she taught about their place in God’s heart.”In the sentence called CREATION, you are the last thing he created; you are the exclamation mark at the end of the sentence!
- They loved the safety and intimacy that came from being a part of a smaller group. It gave them freedom to share about their real lives and situations they are facing.
- They enjoyed spending time with the friends they came with, but were able to easily make new friends as well, because of the environment and activities the retreat provided. Some of the younger ones decided to brave the April temperatures of Ahmic Lake(picture attached)
- They were pleased that there were other women there their age! Participants represented age ranges from newborns to people in their 80’s, with at least one participant representing every decade in between.
- They loved the craft that was offered (thanks to Vi Williams for the inspiration and obtaining of supplies)
- They liked the new clothing products and travel mugs in the tuck shop……the camp is $500 richer as a result
Here a couple of quotes from some Ladies that attended:
“A BIG BIG THANK YOU for the ladies weekend. When I arrived I did not know a lot of people but when I left I had new friends. It was good to sit down and listen especially to the younger women and their struggles and victories.
The messages of Lynda, Nancy’s testimony and the videos of Nicole Johnson were spoken by God, and not to forget the music.
I brought a friend I did not know very well but after the conversations we had during our ride together and the time in Camp Kahquah I can really call her “my friend ” now.
I have been in other women conferences but this one was the most relaxed; a place where I could be myself.
God bless you all.
P.S. The coming weeks I have to do a lot of walking because I ate too much excellent food.”
” I just want to thank you again for the wonderful retreat last weekend. It was exactly what I needed. I am so glad you shared what you did with us, what an awesome testimony to God’s amazing love. “
It won’t come as a surprise, therefore, to hear that a date has already been set for next year’s Ladies retreat (April 26-28, 2013). Ladies, why not make plans to attend?
